Fiona assists clients in resolving the division of relationship property after a separation, whether the separation has been acrimonious or on good terms. She will ensure you understand your rights under the law and explain the options you have for receiving your share of relationship property.

If you owned assets prior to the relationship, Fiona will provide you with clear advice on whether those assets can be kept as your separate property or whether they have become relationship property which must be shared.

Fiona has a particular interest in complicated matters involving Trusts and Companies and can help you navigate the complexities of these various structures. She can also assist clients in applying for or defending a claim for economic disparity (when one party seeks more than 50% of relationship property) and/or claims for spousal maintenance (regular financial support provided by one partner to the other for a period after separation).

In the first instance, Fiona will attempt to resolve matters by agreement utilising negotiation and private mediations where appropriate. If Court proceedings are required, she will make sure you understand each step of the process while providing you with strong legal representation.
