Fiona obtained a Law and a Science degree from Victoria University in 2001. She spent the first nine years of her legal career in Wellington before moving to Auckland in 2010. Since being in Auckland, she has worked for several high level mid-sized firms, including running the Family law team at Martelli McKegg before becoming a Barrister in April 2019.
Fiona has experience in all areas of Family Law but specialises in complex relationship property matters (involving trusts and companies) and Family Protection Act claims (when a will is challenged).
While her focus is on resolving matters as quickly as possible, if resolution can’t be achieved by agreement, then she ensures clients have strong and competent representation in Court.
Having previously been a Police Prosecutor, Fiona is also able to help clients achieve the best possible outcome when they have been charged with a criminal or traffic offence.
“Fiona was recommended to me by a friend who was extremely happy with the service Fiona provided on a very complicated file. I have now used Fiona on 3 occasions for 3 separate files and I have found her to be, prompt, efficient, a good communicator, and able to provide practical advice on aspects of law which are not always easy to understand for someone not in the profession. The files Fiona has worked on for me have not been straight forward and I have appreciated being able to secure the services of a lawyer of such a high calibre to represent me’’.
